Durango Attractions

Whether it's a train ride through the San Juan wilderness or unique downtown shopping, Durango has it and much more. Come experience the sights, sounds, and culture that can be found only in Durango, Colorado.

Mesa Verde National Park
Centuries ago the Ancestral Puebloans built cliff dwellings and called this area home. Come explore the beautiful and mysterious ruins they left behind.

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
Experience the adventure of traveling by a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive on the same tracks miners, cowboys and settlers of the old West took over a century ago.

Durango Mountain Resort
Come check out some of Colorado's finest skiing with average annual snowfall of 260 inches.

Ute Mountain Tribal Park
Located south of Cortez, Ute Mountain Tribal Park is part of the Ute Mountain Indian Reservation. Remote and rugged, it contains Ancestral Puebloan ruins comparable to those in nearby Mesa Verde.

Fall Colors
Southwest Colorado puts on a spectacular show of beautiful colors in the fall. Be sure to see our area in late September for the colors. A great way to see them is a drive on the San Juan Skyway. You can see a sneak preview of the colors in our photo gallery.

Rafting
Whether you prefer a lazy float down the river or an exhilarating journey through the rapids, Durango has it for you. Several excellent companies lead trips on local rivers for the whole family.
